Parents of disabled kids are not special, we are not okay and we are desperately in need of help, we are just like everyone else but have been forced into a position that we never asked for and can't get out of. We don't need a pedestal we need a cloning machine!

In response to:Surprise!

Ahh what a beautiful photo Eve.Penny

In response to:Update

A new blog to document the fight sounds good Eve! Being a mom is difficult enough,a mom of a disabled or special needs child requires a very special type of person, which you are.Keep on fighting because our children are what we are about. Keep your chin up no matter how many times you get knocked on it,and above all pray and my prayers are with you also.
I found your comment really interesting as it touches on something I believe in so strongly - building children's self-esteem in positive ways.

I was hopeful that teachers are now separating the learning objectives for the piece of work from the presentation.

What seems worse of all is the fact someone has scrawled on the piece of work with a comment which requests that the work re-done before it will meet the requirements for display. I wonder if your son has been made aware of the criteria?

I usually ask my pupils about the audience for the work, and encourage them to form their own judgements about how it should be presented and also how much they will focus on getting the spellings correct, for instance.

I wondered if you had asked your son how he felt with that comment on his work?

Actually, they aren't - V is away in Spain, and J is in hospital. So there I am in a video conference with some very senior people who I'd like to impress just a little bit and the sound of some serious drilling obliterates everything. I pop next door to find that J is having a phone installed before coming back from hospital (good!) and the engineer is drilling a hole for the phone line in the room next to my study. I run back to the phone conference and explain, asking for a five minute break. They were very understanding. I made a strong cup of coffee while the drilling was finished, then resumed the conference.

In response to:Dire time

Thanks Penny - I need my hugs!

In response to:Dire time

you are a great mother.Noone knows the problems you face every dayy and all day.
